Iberia and Samsung are launching a “wearable” boarding pass

The new app will be soon available on Samsung S5 mobile phone and the Samsung Gear 2 smartwatch

Madrid – Iberia and Samsung have joined forces to be able to offer the services of Iberia.mobi, including boarding passes, on Samsung’s new mobile devices.

In this way, passengers will be able to sport their boarding pass on their wrist, without needing anything else to board their flight. Additionally, in an upcoming version of the Iberia app for Android, whenever passengers check in using their device and synchronise their Samsung Gear 2, their boarding passes will automatically be downloaded to a wearable device.

“Working on this app has been a challenge, because we are producing prototypes, creating something that is new to the market; we are one of the first airlines to offer a wearable boarding pass, which we think will be very popular among our passengers”, said Miguel Ángel Henales, head of Iberia’s digital business.
