South African Tourism and the New York-based cooking, dining and gastronome magazine, Bon Appetit have announced an exciting marketing partnership that profiles destination South Africa in the magazine and that will brings both destination and culinary delights to some of the USA’s top foodies and travel trade professionals.

The ultra-special culinary adventure will introduce travellers to the flavours and textures of South Africa’s eclectic fusion cuisine, via some of South Africa’s best hotels and restaurants.

„This partnership is groundbreaking in further strengthening South Africa’s position as a compelling epicurean travel destination,“ says Sthu Zungu, President, South African Tourism, North America. „Although the focus will be on wining and dining, the partnership will also showcase our other destination delights: our people; places; unspoiled wildernesses; big, exciting cities; value for money; and extraordinarily good infrastructure.“

Bon Appetit is part of the global Conde Naste stable with sister publications that include The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Vogue, Glamour and Golf Digest.

The culinary experience will be marketed to Bon Appetit’s prestigious Epicurean Travel Consultant Board, comprising 48 Gastronomy travel advisors who are part of the Virtuoso agency network (a by-invitation-only organisation that comprises more than 300 travel agencies with more than 6,000 elite travel specialists in 22 countries, as well as more than 1,000 of the world’s best travel providers and premier destinations). Non-Bon Appetit Board agents who are part of the Virtuoso network may also offer this opportunity to their clients.

Admiral Travel Gallery, a board member agency specialising in one-of-a-kind escorted group departures to South Africa, has partnered with South African Tourism to create an itinerary that will feature personally designed menus by top South African chefs, a series of private wine tastings by some of our best vintners, and excursions to the iconic locales of our diverse and unique destination.

The partnership was launched at the Bon Appetit Culinary Studio in New York City last week. The agents were introduced to South Africa and were treated to the culinary delights of our destination. These were prepared by Bon Appetit Chef de Cuisine Jonathan Lindenauer.
