Traffic Figures November 2008 / Another double-digit earnings increase
Berlin – Over the period from January to November 2008, Air Berlin transported a total of 26,752,602 passengers, i.e. 1.5 percent more than in the corresponding period of the previous year (2007: 26,363,830). Fleet capacity utilization for the first eleven months of 2008 was slightly higher than in the previous year, increasing from 77.6 to 78.8 percent (+1.2 percentage points).
With the start of the 2008/09 winter flight schedule in November, the efficiency program introduced in the spring has come into full effect. Among other measures, capacity in November was reduced by a total of 6.3 percent. As a result, the number of passengers decreased by 5.5 percent to reach 1,942,308 (2007: 2,055,010). Capacity utilization increased from 72.0 to 72.6 percent, i.e. an increase of 0.6 percentage points. Air Berlin’s revenue per available seat kilometre („Yield per ASK“) showed double-digit growth, rising from 4.30 to 5.18 Eurocents, i.e. a 20.2 percent increase over the corresponding month of the previous year.
