Passenger: Rise in traffic (+1.2%), High load factor (86.2%), up 1.1 points, Further recovery in unit revenues
Cargo: Rise in traffic (+1.7%), Improvement in load factor (+2.4 points) to 66.2%, Unit revenue up strongly

Amstelveen/ Paris – The pick up in both the passenger and cargo businesses continued in July, both in terms of traffic and
unit revenues. This improvement reflects both an upturn in demand as well as prudent capacity
management.

Passenger business

Traffic rose by 1.2% in July with stable capacity, leading to a 1.1 points increase in load factor to 86.2%. Passenger numbers amounted to 6.9 million.

As in the previous two months, unit revenue per available seat kilometer (RASK) ex-currency saw a strong year-on-year rise, with a marked recovery in both Premium and Economy classes. In long-haul, the rise was especially strong on the Asia and Americas networks. In medium-haul, the capacity adjustments undertaken in the context of the product overhaul led to a high load factor of 79.1%, the highest ever achieved since the merger of Air France and KLM. On the Paris-Europe routes, unit revenues were driven by the strong performance of the new ‘Premium eco’ class, aimed at the business traveler.

– On the Americas network, traffic declined by 1.4% with capacity down 1.5%. The load factor gained
0.1 point to 90.1%.

– Traffic on the Asia network was dynamic (+5.1%) for capacity up 2.4%. The load factor stood at
90.1%, a rise of 2.3 points.

– On the Africa and Middle East network, traffic was up 3.4% with capacity up by 3.1%. The load factor
was slightly up (+0.3 points) at 85.3%.

– On the Caribbean and Indian Ocean network traffic rose by 4.6% for capacity up by 5.4%. The load
factor shed 0.6 points to 81.8%.

– The European network saw further capacity adjustments (-4.4%). Traffic declined slightly (-1.4%),
leading to a load factor of 79.1%, a rise of 2.4 points.

Cargo business

Traffic rose 1.7% with capacity reduced by 2.1%. The load factor gained 2.4 points to 66.2%. Unit  revenues per available tonne kilometer (RATK) rose strongly relative to July 2009.
