Today took place the first meeting, after the last Friday adjudication, between the Alitalia management, led by President-CEO Giancarlo Cimoli, and the extraordinary commissioner Carlo Rinaldini and his team, together with the Volare Group management.
During the meeting the parties shared an action plan that will make it possible for Alitalia to acquire the going concern of the Volare Group in a short time, in a difficult scenario that will focus Alitalia both on the compulsory procedures to inform unions on the transferral of the going concern and the Antitrust Autorithy on the business concentration and on the need not to complicate even further the extremely difficult financial situation, made worse by three months’ delay in the adjudication.
The meeting led to full consensus between Alitalia, the extraordinary administration and the Volare Group management. Although the acquisition is still not completed (while waiting for the above compulsory procedures to be defined), this broad consensus between the parties will enable them to take joint initiatives and to give tangible form to
the plan for restructuring and developing Volare and Air Europe, thereby dealing more effectively with the legal proceedings undertaken by some competitors.
