airBaltic Teams Up with ERGO /ERV for Travel Insurance

Starting from April, the Latvian national airline airBaltic enters in cooperation with ERGO/ERV to offer improved travel insurance.

Riga – Tero Taskila, Chief Commercial Officer of airBaltic: “The turnover of airBaltic in 2009 was over EUR 300 million. With 50% of tickets sold at its website is the largest online shop in the Baltic region. It offers everything you need for your travel – from airline tickets, to hotels, to car rental and soon even sunglasses for a beach holiday – and we are continuously adding new products and services.” 

Dr. Kestutis Bagdonavicius, Chairman of ERGO Baltic States Management Board: “We are particularly pleased to have been able to provideairBaltic and its customers with travel insurance solutions that meet high quality demands. This is completely new travel insurance product in the Baltic’s offered at very attractive prices. The main advantage for our customers is the facts that winter sport and snorkeling is included into insurance coverage without any extra insurance payment and uniform insurance premiums”.  

The travel insurance products available on www.airBaltic.com now include such new features as cover for sports injuries and sports equipment. 

Local offices of ERGO /ERV in 15 European countries will service the holders of travel insurance policies. ERGO with its local subsidiaries in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, will service the airBaltic clients in the Baltic States. In the other 12 countries, ERV will provide the travel insurance for airBaltic customers. 

For 2009 airBaltic has announced 20 million EUR preliminary profit, and achieved 6% passenger growth to 2.75 million passengers. In 2010,airBaltic has so far announced eleven new destinations from its Riga hub including Madrid, Belgrade, Vaasa, Umea, Beirut, Amman, Manchester, Rovaniemi, Kuusamo, Visby and Lulea.
