Star chefs from the Peninsula Hotels create menus for Lufthansa passengers on routes from the USA to Germany

The cooperation with the Peninsula Hotel Group promises to fill Lufthansa passengers with pleasure on all flights from the USA. As of November, the chefs Gordon Maybury from New York, Terry Crandall from Chicago and Sean Hardy from the Peninsula Beverly Hills, will be spoiling the guests at two-month intervals in the First and Business Classes. The cooperation with Peninsula which will extend over a full year, is part of the Lufthansa „Star Chef“ programme.

As of November the start of the culinary voyage of discovery through the United States will be made by Gordon Maybury from the pulsating U.S. metropolis of New York. Inspired by the „Five“ Restaurant, his dishes promise Lufthansa guests high-flying culinary pleasure. In the First Class, among other things, they will be served with pistachio-crusted prawns with sweet pea tarragon flan. In the Business Class, passengers can look forward to saffron fettuccine with roasted vegetables and chunky tomato sauce.

[GADS_NEWS]With the start of the New Year, Terry Crandall of the Peninsula Chicago will take over the baton for the months January and February. As Executive Chef of the hotel’s own four highly-decorated restaurants, his name stands for unmistakable menu creations. In his dishes you will find not only elements from the „Avenue“, recently honoured as the Restaurant of the Year 2005, but also ingredients from the „Shanghai Terrace“, one of America’s top addresses for Asian specialities. Besides other delicacies, Terry Crandall will offer guests in the First Class, juniper-roasted duck breast, served with cranberry barley risotto and braised endive. Travellers in the Business Class will be offered Szechwan King snapper, wok-fried Rapini with jasmine rice, among other things.

The unmatched conclusion of the culinary tour of the United States will be provided by dishes created by Sean Hardy, chef of the „Belvedere“ at the Peninsula in Beverly Hills. Where at other times, the celebrities of Hollywood are in the limelight, here the passenger will be the star and the focus of attention. In the months of March and April, chef de cuisine Sean Hardy will delight Lufthansa guests in the First and Business Classes with his menus. Besides other delicacies, Lufthansa’s First Class guests will be offered beef tenderloin with charred chayote squash and oyster mushrooms. Marinated chicken with pinenut and eggplant couscous with aubergine will be on the menu in the Business Class.

“The cooperation with Peninsula underlines once again our claim to spoil our guests with culinary delights of the very highest standard”, emphasized Dr. Reinhold Huber, Head of Product Management and Innovation at Lufthansa. Since spring last year, internationally- known star chefs have been creating special menus with a special reference to the region on selected long-haul routes from the Far East and the USA. With this exclusive service, Lufthansa is going even further to satisfy the wishes and needs of its international guests. The programme thereby concentrates particularly on travellers who fly with Lufthansa from their native countries to Germany.
