Riga – The second international “North Hub Riga” conference organised by the Latvian national airline Air Baltic will be held at the Radisson Blu Latvia Hotel on June 9.
Air Baltic President and CEO Bertolt Flick: “In 2009, Latvia was the fastest growing country in the European Union by airline passengers. Therefore Riga is a natural choice for airBaltic to organise already the second international aviation conference to discuss major global trends in the aviation industry.”
The conference will focus on major global trends in aviation, regulations in the industry, Eastern European airlines during the transition period, passenger habits, and services rendered to passengers. The conference will allow leaders from European airlines and airports, manufacturers, legislators and politicians to share experiences and views about challenges, which the aviation industry is facing, also discussing future prospects for airports and airlines.
Confirmed as delegated to the conference are people from such airlines as Air Berlin, Carpatair and Lufthansa, as well as from the aircraft manufacturer Airbus. More than 200 participants form nearly 30 countries in Europe, the CIS and the Middle East have registered for the event.
Nearly 40 media representatives will be attending the conference from Europe and the CIS specializing in aviation, transport, and business. Among the represented media Kommersant (Russia), Kommersant (Ukraine), Low Cost & Regional Airline Business (UK), Helsingin Sanomat (Finland), and others will be attending.
Riga International Airport has turned into the leading airport in the Baltic region. Situated right in the centre it is the natural point to enter the Baltic States, offering flight connections to more than 90 European destinations. Riga airport has turned into an efficient hub that offers a multitude of convenient transfer connections between markets in Western/Northern Europe and countries of the Former Soviet Union, including the Caucasus and Central Asia, and the Middle East. The development of a new terminal construction project is currently underway, to strengthen Riga even further.
