Korean Air Introduces Tasty and Healthy Organic Menus

14.09.2006 [11:15] Korean Air will offer passengers a taste of truly healthy in-flight meals prepared with top quality ingredients such as organic vegetables and grains.

SEOUL, Korea - The introduction of the new organic dishes reflects Korean Air’s great care for its passengers’ health and wellbeing. The new organic menus contain fresh organic vegetables such as lettuce, red chicory and romaine, bread made from organic flour and organic morning cereal.

Korean Air will start serving the new organic menu from September 1, initially in First Class and Prestige Class, and will gradually extend the service to Economy Class. The new menus will be launched on long-haul flights between Korea and America and Europe, expanding to mid-haul and short-haul flights from October.

“Organic food was only served in a small number of First and Business class cabins in the past. Our decision to introduce organic food enables us to enhance our service quality as an industry leader,” said JH Lee, COO and President of Korean Air.

The organic food supplier for Korean Air, Gewiss Land, is the largest organic farm in Korea. It delivers organic food to the Korean Air catering center within 24 hours after production, which enables Korean Air passengers to experience top quality in-flight meals.

Korean Air is the winner of the prestigious “Mercury Award” from the International Flight Catering Association (IFCA) for the development and offering of Bibim Noodles (Spicy Korean Noodles), one of Korea's finest traditional dishes, as an in-flight meal option.

The Korean Air Catering Center will continue to develop and enhance its in-flight meal service and maintain the carrier’s position as one of the leading quality international airlines in the world.
